LAND WANTED

Bringing a fresh homes solution to a challenging Wirral site

The scheme:

15 apartments for affordable rent

Location:

New Chester Road, Rock Ferry

Our client:

Wirral Methodist Housing Association

Status:

Completed

This scheme of one-bedroom apartments has completely regenerated a derelict brownfield site in the Rock Ferry area of Birkenhead on the Wirral.

The prominent corner site, on the junction of a major road into town, had previously been home to terraced houses and then a car showroom but had become completely run down, attracting fly tipping and anti-social behaviour.

The constrained site present significant viability issues and new housing had been considered as totally undeliverable for decades. There were complex title issues to resolve, including access rights over third-party land, mortgagee interests and unidentified freeholders.

Working with our project partners, our team was able to overcome these challenges to deliver the transformational regeneration of the site for our client Wirral Methodist Housing Association.

The scheme met a high level of housing need in north Wirral for affordable and energy-efficient single persons housing accommodation.

“We are very pleased with how Stanley has contributed to our development programme. They have an obvious depth of technical knowledge and a problem-solving attitude that helps drive the project forward.”
