This project will deliver an exceptional development of new houses and bungalows to be made available for a wide mix of tenures, including outright sale, shared ownership, affordable rent, and social rent.

The site is made up of unused former agricultural land within the settlement boundary of Longridge in the Ribble Valley.

Although within the settlement boundary, and identified as a housing site by Ribble Valley Borough Council, an initial outline application was refused by the committee but was subsequently won at appeal.

A high-quality reserved matters application was submitted by Stanley and, despite political objection by planning committee members, the scheme was approved by the council June 2021 on the basis that the application was entirely appropriate.

Stanley has created an exemplary scheme at Longridge which challenges the accepted conventions of affordable housing provision in neighbourhood design and aesthetic. The schemes responds to the aspirations of the government’s National Design Guide and the mixed tenure offer creates a genuinely sustainable community.
